Ayres 2008 Pinot Noir - Pioneer

Tasting Notes:
The Pioneer is produced from all estate fruit and is named for an Oregon Trail pioneer, one who was able to survive the long arduous journey. As in previous vintages, the Pioneer is comprised entirely of Dijon 667 clone, a very small berry with the characteristics of early ripening and a greater skin to flesh ratio, resulting in an intense concentration of flavors and dynamic texture. Dusty spices almost reminiscent of Christmas, new bookstore and earthy aromas create comfort and intrigue. Imagine a thick ribbon of silk nestled around black cherries and blackberries caressing the palate. This is accompanied by notes of light game and smoke with fresh mushrooms on a long sexy finish. Stunning, sophisticated and classy, yet bold, very much like Lauren Hutton, this wine just might make you blush.
